Company Information

Company description:
In 1989 Van Vlahakis and his son, John, started Earth Friendly Products, a division of Van’s company, Venus Laboratories. An experienced chemist, Van developed plant technology, creating plant-based green cleaners, while John took on the mission of building the business, hiring and training sales staff, obtaining and widening distribution and marketing the product line. Headquartered in Addison, IL, with five facilities nationwide, the company carefully manufactures more than 150 environmentally sound, effective cleaning products.  How they make their products is as important as what they make: Earth Friendly Products is deeply committed to preserving the environment through its manufacturing processes. The company has five diverse manufacturing facilities across the nation. All Earth Friendly Products are created with only replenishable and sustainable plant-based ingredients that are safe for people, pets, and the planet. Earth Friendly Products has proudly received the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award in 2011, the 2010 GEELA Award for Sustainable Business Practices, 2009 Green Patriot TM Green 100TM Designation and the Champion level recognition from the US EPA through the Design for the Environment (DfE) Program’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative.

Printing Processes used at this facility:
For our four-color work we use the Heidelberg Quick Master 46/4 Direct Imaging waterless offset press. It uses no chemistry in plate development, and no fountain solutions. Printing plates are silicone and are recycled. A Ryobi 512/2 color conventional press, Crestlines-installed using petrochemical free fountain solution by Heidelberg.  A 1967 rebuilt 360 A.B. Dick with pillow blocks converted to accept a .008 poly plate, Kompak damp system and also uses petrochemical/alcohol free Heidelberg fountain solution. Conventional plates used are poly-based and set on a Heidelberg Quicksetter. Petrochemical free BIO-LOCITY by Superior Inks is exclusively used in our printing process. Low VOC Press washes are manufactured by Explorer Pressroom Solutions.
